On the occasion of the World Day for the Abolition of Animal Experiments (April 24), Vegan Life NGO is organizing an information and awareness-raising event at Syntagma Square, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The action is taking place within the framework of the global mobilization coordinated by the international alliance TAVA – The Anti-Vivisection Alliance, with participation from 57 cities around the world. For the first time this year, Greece officially participates in this common voice against the violence behind scientific experiments on animals.
During the event, informational materials will be shared with the public, while relevant videos will be shown that capture what happens behind closed doors in laboratories. The event aims to highlight the reality of animal experiments and promote the need for an ethical and scientific transition to modern alternative methods.
According to official data from the Ministry of Rural Development and Food , in 2023 alone, 32,935 animals were used for scientific purposes in Greece. These include monkeys, dogs, pigs, rabbits, chickens, fish and other species. Accordingly, European Union data show that the majority of animal experiments are not related to life-saving treatments but to basic research, educational purposes and testing of chemical products, pesticides or other commercial substances.
Vegan Life NGO invites everyone interested in animal rights to visit the action, to be informed and to join us in demanding a world without animal experimentation.
